Energy efficiency

Dissemination of Climate Technologies for Energy Efficiency

Project Summary

The transfer of low carbon technologies to developing and emerging countries is essential if reductions in global CO2 emissions and adaptation to climate change are to be realised. The private sector in recipient countries needs to obtain technological know-how and information about the market opportunities in the field of mitigation and adaptation to climate change as part of the technology-transfer process.

For German firms which are technology providers in the energy efficiency space the dissemination of knowledge about innovative technologies opens new market opportunities, e.g. throughout the creation of new B2B relations. German companies are well known for energy efficient solutions which facilitates export.

The GIZ project "Dissemination of Climate Technologies for Mitigation and Adaptation with the Private Sector" will develop capacity building approaches in the field of innovative energy efficiency and climate technologies. The training and information offers will be designed in close cooperation with firms from Germany and from emerging countries.

Target group of the project are private sector representatives from industries and service enterprises in emerging countries.

The project focuses on the following key topics

  1. Transfer and application of Energy Efficiency Technologies
    • Energy Efficiency in Buildings
    • Energy Efficiency in Industry
  2. Geothermal Energy
  3. Dissemination of Technologies for Adaptation to Climate Change
  4. Identification and dissemination of innovative businesses cases in the field of Climate Technologies in emerging and developing countries

The project follows the approach of the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI) which aims at enhancing the dissemination of climate and environmental technologies along the innovation chain. The German Climate Technology Initiative supports the strengthening of managers and experts by education and training. It advances the market launch and the sustainable deployment of technologies for mitigating and adapting to climate change.
