Private firms public partners : PPP Workshop Urban Environmental
Infrastructure
World wide enormous progress is made in various forms of Public
Private Partnership: the co-operation of private firms locally and
from abroad with municipal authorities.
New ways and means to speed up the implementation of urban environmental
projects can be found.
UNDP New York and CDG,
on behalf of the German
government, have initiated a workshop to discuss the challenges
and recipes of PPP in urban infrastructure, especially in South
East Asian, Southern African and selected Latin American countries.
Please find attached some preliminary information on this workshop,
which will focus on initiating co-operation and on practical issues
like financing mechanisms for small and medium projects.
This workshop will be held October 26th -27th at the IFW Wasser
Berlin, the international water fair in Germany. Before this event,
a visit of selected infrastructure-related exhibits at the World
Expo 2000 in Hannover is foreseen.
Openings are still available for suitable participants from municipalities
he countries in South East Asia, Southern Africa and Latin America
which are currently preparing PPP projects or have the serious intention
to undertake projects in the area of urban environmental infrastructure
(including i.e. water supply, waste, waste water) with private sector
participation .
If you are interested to be invited (sponsorship is available for
a limited number of participants) please fill in and return the
application ( you can download the MS Excel-sheets for municipalities
or firms ).
We would also like to ask you to forward this information to other
