Restructuring of the German Water industry
The German water and waste water engineering industry has been
sold out in recent times. New structures emerge.
Major international players like Mannesmann, Lurgi, Babcock or
Thyssen have sold their respective engineering divisions. The business
is dominated by operators. The German utility scene is characterised
by public ownership and few large players. Majors changes can be
seen:
- increasing strive for competetiveness and performance
- opening of the market for private operators
- strategic alliances within and ourtside of the water sector.
The abundance of high level know how is increasingly marketed.
The German market will also be open for foreign investors as the
liberalisation of the energy market shows
